Medieval and Early Modern Studies Festival

14th – 15th June 2024

Join us in Canterbury for the University of Kent’s tenth annual MEMS Festival. This two-day event celebrates medieval and early modern history (c.400 – c.1800), and encourages a wide range of interdisciplinary topics, including but not limited to, politics, religion, economics, art, drama, literature, and domestic culture. We are also accepting applications regarding any digital humanities projects that are either completed or ongoing.

MEMS Festival aims to be an informal space in which postgraduate students, early career researchers, and academics can share ideas and foster conversations, whilst building a greater sense of community.

We invite abstracts of 200-250 words for individual research papers of 20 minutes in length on any subject relating to the medieval and early modern period. We also encourage 700 word abstracts proposing a three-person panel presenting on a specific subject or theme in medieval or early modern studies.

The deadline for all Paper and Panel Proposals is Monday 22nd April. All applications must be sent to memsfestival@kent.ac.uk with ‘MEMSFestival 2024 Abstract’ as the subject of the email.

This opportunity allows you to showcase your research in an interdisciplinary environment, and to network with fellow scholars from a wide range of institutions. For more information, please contact us on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, or at memsfestival.wordpress.com.
