The MEMS Festival has a number of bursaries available to assist postgraduate students and Early Career Researchers* to attend the festival. This is open to all delegates, whether speaking or just wishing to attend the festivities.
These bursaries are intended to cover travel and accommodation expenses incurred by attending the festival and will be allocated according to need and fair competition. Successful applicants will be reimbursed following the event. Please complete the downloadable Bursary Application Form (available from 20 April as a Word Document or PDF file) if you wish to be considered.
Bursary applications must be completed and returned via email by 25 May 2018. (Please use the subject line: Bursary Application.)
Due to the nature of the Festival’s sponsorship, priority will be given to students from CHASE member institutions (The Courtauld Institute of Art; Goldsmiths, University of London; the Open University; University of East Anglia; University of Essex; University of Kent; University of Sussex; Birkbeck, University of London; and SOAS, University of London). This includes internally funded, partially funded, and self-funded students registered at these institutions.
As the event is sponsored in part by CHASE, students in receipt of CHASE funding are not eligible for a bursary. Instead, they are able to claim back their expenses through their relevant institutional administrators; no prior approval for funding support is required.
*We are following the UK Research Councils’ definition of ECR, as any individual who has completed their PhD within the last 5 years.
